One-to-One Classes

Here are some typical reasons for people choosing to take a private dance class with Danzon:

  • Students who take group classes and who want to give their dancing a boost.

  • Students who want to learn styles not usually taught in the group classes, e.g. someone going on holiday to Cuba who wants to learn Cuban style salsa before they go.

  • As a way of gaining confidence before attending group salsa classes

  • To learn to dance 'generally' - not salsa in particular, but to have confidence in leading/ followng a few simple turns than can be used with most types of music.

  • In preparation for the first dance at a wedding

ne-to-one classes can be arranged at your convenience with a member of the Danzon team, either at your Dublin home, another venue of your choice, or a city-centre studio.

 

Wedding Dance

Would you like something more then the traditional slow waltz for your wedding day? Danzon offers you and your fiance the opportunity to put together a tailor-made choreography for your first dance, to the song of your choice. This could be something Latin, or just a regular chart-song.

Some couples have no previous dance experience, and others may have taken some salsa classes together already - you can say how simple or how ambitious you would like the dance to be. here are two recent examples:

Simple Wedding Dance

Margaret and Pete* chose 'All Night Long' by Lionel Richie. Both enjoy club dancing but have not taken dance classes before. They wanted something upbeat and lively so together we decided on merengue (from the Dominican Republic), which has nice, easy footwork and allows for some crowd-pleasing turns with very little training.

In the first hour's class we chose the style of dance, choreographed 80% of the song and the couple had practised it enough to be happy with that section, and to be able to go home and practice by themselves. In the second hour we went through the first section again, to gain confidence, and completed the song. The couple were very happy with the end result and enjoyed the classes in themselves also.

Total cost:€50 for a couple for an hour at the instructor's house = €100

Ambitious Wedding Dance

Ken and Magdalena* had been enjoying salsa for about a year, before they decided to put together a salsa as their first dance. They had a salsa song picked out, but wanted help with putting together a choreography that would match the music - hitting the breaks in the right places, using the routines that Ken already knew, plus one or two new 'flashy moves', such as dips.

We spent three 2-hour sessions together working on the song, and in this time the couple grew more confident with the moves, that they would henceforth use on the dance floor, as well as on their wedding day.

Total cost: €100 for a couple for an hour at the couple's house = €300

A €20 deposit in advance is required to secure the booking, the balance to be paid by cash or cheque on the day.

Cancellation policy

If less than 3 days notice is given to cancel, the €20 deposit will be held. In the event that the venue booked has its own cancellation policy, that may also be payable.
